Point Cloud or “Non-Watertight” Polygon Mesh

This is the “raw” data produced from your scan, this format does not require extensive editing. This is the least expensive option and adequate for many uses. May require additional editing/processing for additional applications such as 3D printing.

“Watertight” Polygon Mesh

This is a polygon mesh that has been edited in order to make it “watertight”. Required for 3D Printing, CNC milling, and some types of CAD software

CAD format

This format costs more than Point cloud or watertight mesh but universally accepted by all CAD packages.
